48. My "Signature Outfit"

 

 

HA- this is where being boring and consistent comes in handy.

white blouse (getting more into ivory these days though)

red main piece

My Baby White lace topped otks

Black Mary janes (or my red antaina baby dupes)

Headdress 

Long necklaces; usually of keys

Stacked rings 
lack of wristwear
red, brown, or black bag

I’m quite consistent… I've found my comfort zone and then just kind of went more into it to create a little variety; the same can be said for my regular clothes my whole life haha. Experimentation is difficult for me because I’m so anal about what I like to begin with so I really have to see something be used SUPER interestingly and it has to really call out to me for me to attempt incorporating it onto myself. 
Regardless its an undeniable Neu-old school silhouette that i always end up going for; minimal poof, stacked vintage-esque accessories usually metallic, cue motifs to a minimum, etc... 

i guess this past year i have a few coords which definitely fall into this "default" outfit of mine...

found during my explorations of old egl blogs as i tend to do every so often... i really liked the concept!

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓, 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒚 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕/𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇:
2 holy grail dresses in the same 10 day time span!!
Yup- yeah, majority of basically everyone already knows how in basically the same week I got both, first Alice and the Pirates 2009 Hymn Long JSK, and then Baby’s 2008 Rococo Rose Print JSK- and let me just add: Both were only 100eur EACH.

I have to make emphasis: why were these my holy grail items and never dream dresses? Because I’d NEVER seen so much as a sold listing of EITHER of them so I honestly just had them on my Wishlist for funsies! My ultimate dream dress [for now… im seriously thinking at this point do I really need it] is a pre-2009 BABY Red Tartan Scallop Hem JSK; that right there is a dream dress. I can dream of it, I’ve seen it for sale and have missed it a couple of times and one day when I see it for a non-scalped price I totally totally want it! These two items… again who knew if they’d EVER come to exist on any 2nd hand site… AND YET!! I honestly thought of playing the lottery that week what with all my luck- I'm serious when I say it was a rush seeing both of them on mercari when I did. I like basically dropped my phone when I saw rococo rose print with my friend whilst getting boba. And Hymn JSK I was wrapping up for the night on my desktop and then poof! There it was randomly! And I never bought anything so quickly (except maybe my little red riding hood bag)!! Both of these were purely due to luck and I’m happy it was all on my own too!

Besides them I was also totally lucky and honestly blessed to have gotten not just my Navy Velveteen babydoll which was a gift from my loving parents, but the ivory velveteen JSK I ended up happening on earlier  in December! Two velveteen pieces in the same year!! I still cant believe this as well!! I’m still currently waiting for the both of them to arrive, thankful February is still very cold and ill be shipping my velveteen JSK rushed because that’s what money is for!!

[I make a distinction between the use of “holy grail” and the more commonly used in egl-circles “dream dress”:
holy grail is much more used in the ita-bag hobby which is what really accustomed me to hunting and buying online. As the hobby has more of a focus on amassing quantity (to a large extent, and usually but not always of course) rather than having a curated “Dream dress” as is the norm in Lolita there “Holy grail” there is used for ultimate item or sometimes a select few items which the hobbyist covets above all else to someday obtain. Is this basically the same definition as what it is to have a “dream dress”? At face value, very much so. But as the air around the word itself gives a sense of un-obtainability almost to it a lot of the time even if the hobbyist has this one a wish list its referred to as the holy grail because so; because its maybe even unlikely they’ll ever encounter and obtain it. Doesn’t “dream” basically mean the same thing though? We ponder and dream of the dress as who knows it’ll be a reality, yes I suppose. But due to the fact dreaming, reminiscing, imagining, and so on to an extent have positive undertones I will connect to hope in this case- for me this is the differing factor. A holy grail item is there as such: an ultimate very likely unobtainable piece with little to no hope of ever encountering and much less obtaining The item is looked out for, but rarely is it actively searched for, for any length of time; typically these items are items which have only ever been viewed in a photograph of someone who has already obtained the item, or only exists within stock photos, typically there is minimum to no documentation of the item and it can also be labeled as such if the hobbyist has never ever seen a second hand listing of the item sold or otherwise. Dream items therefore I differ via their aspect of hope; and I believe this is why its more commonly used in Lolita (that and history and habit), dream items have usually been seen “in the wild” on second hand sites or maybe the hobbyist was there during release and missed it, or maybe the item is simply coveted to begin with and is scalped; but regardless there is hope in someday obtaining the item in some form or another, by some means necessary SOMEDAY.]

And maybe another caplet or two! And some boleros too!! Goddamn!!! Why is it so difficult to get some cute boleros!!?? Cardigans are cute yes, but I feel like I’m using my little red wool bolero to death!! Anyways: a white bolero please and thank you!! And yeah, maybe another white blouse or two tbh; as always removeable sleeves because I like that two for one deal. If the universe truly loves me it’ll have MAXICIMAM restock their goddamn blouses this year on a month I have money to spend on minimum 2 of them!!



𝑴𝒚 𝒇𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝒘𝒂𝒔:
There’s too many for me to truly pick a favorite. As much as Lolita is a solitary hobby in my mind I’ve seriously never met so so many cool and interesting people so easily and so quickly as I have with Lolita. I’m not too shy thankfully and living in Europe has its quirks: whenever I go to a major city I look up if there’s a Lolita community there and I contact them about meeting up and its always been so wonderful. Ok I’ll choose a solid memory: I guess it would have to be the entirety of The Queen is Dead event in Manchester this past June. A coveted Old School event with EVERYONE I ever wanted to meet, AND IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY!! I take birthdays pretty seriously and having a lolita birthday party- and in this manner was seriously more than I could ever ask for, I’m honestly scared for my birthday next year because I don’t think anything could top how happy I was on this one! Anyways yeah, people make the memories and I look forward to making so many more in 2025!!
